Flare Gas Recovery Systems

LIQUID RING

Flare Gas Recovery Units (FGRU) are designed to recover the flare gas from a flare gas header and then compress it to the fuel gas network in a plant, making it available for other uses in lieu of flaring.
FGRUs are traditionally based upon liquid ring compressor’s technology and are designed and supplied by GBA complying with the most stringent requirements of different industries such as oil, gas and petrochemical.
Liquid ring compressors comply with API 681 standard, with mechanical seals per API 682, and can be customized as necessary.

FGRUs are connected to the flare header in a position between the knock-out drum (upstream) and the liquid seal drum (downstream), which retains a positive pressure in the header. As the flare header pressure reaches the pressure set point, the liquid ring compressor receives the permissive to start and begin the compression of the flare gas, thus recovered and available for other uses.

FGRU are designed as skid-packaged units, including other possible components such as Knock-out drums/separators, liquid ring coolers, and all reuqired instrumentation, actuated valves, etc. to ensure proper control and safety.
As part of the scope of supply, GBA may include a package PLC, eventually located remote in non-hazardous area, and a field mounted local panel, located in proximity of the FGRU skid.
